The Plasticians The Plasticians Screenwriter: Eitan Mansuri Producer/s Eitan Mansuri , Spiro Films Language: Hebrew Format: Genre Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE An illegal plastic surgery clinic, binds the fate of a mother and daughter, who are dragged into running the business from their crumbling living room. As they rise as successful business-women, their harsh reality creeps back in, facing them with the realisation that their empowerment is a mere façade. SYNOPSIS An ambitious secretary, an immigrant from the USSR, wants to become a successful life coach. Unfortunately, she can't get out from under the burden of the symbiotic relationship with her mother, a surgeon from Moscow who has become a taxi driver since immigrating to Israel. In order to finally leave the house and jumpstart her career, she has to find a way for her mom to function without her. She decides to set up a makeshift surgical clinic at home, so her mother can regain the dignity and sense of purpose she lost. While she waits for the medical license to be approved, the underground clinic begins to grow. The daughter is tempted to give up on her own dreams and live forever alongside this happier and stronger version of her mother, the mother she always wanted. The two form a surprising camaraderie through their complicity in crime, and drag each other deeper into the underworld. WRITER'S STATEMENT I was born in St. Petersburg and grew up in an immigrant home in Israel, alongside two educated parents who managed to always take care of the family's financial security, but never found professional fulfilment. I am a daily witness to the dissonance between the successful professionals my parents once were, and the life of survival and compromise brought forth by immigration. The trauma of immigration naturally passed onto the next generation. The parent-child relationship was turned on its head, and the children often functioned as the responsible adults in the family. As someone who grew up this way, I have always had an impossible dream: to restore my parent’s dignity and see them strong and full of confidence. However, my parents and their friends chose to embrace life and live it to the fullest. They write plays for birthdays, record songs for each other, dance, drink and soothe their pain with a passion for life and love, trying above all else to forget the instability and uncertainty of life. The massive addiction to plastic surgery is in fact an attempt at controlling the uncontrollable, a human desire to look good, or simply be seen. In the unique clinic which our series creates, both the immigrant staff and their clients, are driven by the same human nature to survive. Plastic surgery has become even more popular and accessible in recent years. Still, it is a medical procedure, surgery, positioning the patients seeking treatment as 'ill,' not good-looking or young enough; consequently, the notion of 'healing' through a plastic surgery is very limited. In many cases, dealing with eternal appearance is caused by psychological problems that are neglected and even exacerbated. In this series, I hope to present the other side of the beauty industry's enticing brochures, and focusing on the mental motivations for seeking an external solution. ABOUT THE WRITER PRODUCER'S STATEMENT In 1990, the dissolution of the Soviet Union sparked a significant wave of Russian immigration worldwide. Among these migrations, the influx of Jewish Russians to Israel stands as the nation's largest ever witnessed, with one million individuals making the journey. While many managed to integrate successfully, others faced challenges. "The Plasticians" delves into the narratives of those who struggled to integrate fully into society but nonetheless, never gave up on their joy of life, their culture and definitely not on their dreams. This series raises relevant, global questions about immigration, belonging, and the coexistence of cultures within a nation. It offers a fresh perspective on Russian immigrants who abandoned their previous lives, professions, and sometimes families in pursuit of a new home. Hila Royzenman introduced the project at the Series Mania writer's campus 2022, showcasing her promise as a young director with a distinct voice and deep understanding of these characters' worlds. The series is multilingual, featuring dialogue in Hebrew, Russian, and English, indicating its potential to transcend borders. • Einat Weinboim and Or Sinai

Not Your Fault Add a Title Add a Title Send Send Adi Bar Yossef Producers: Einat Weinbaum , Or Sinai Not Your Fault Lab Edition 1 2022 PITCH LOGLINE Dori, a volunteer at a help center for victims of sexual assault, has her world turned upside down when she receives an anonymous report about a rape that took place years ago. She suspects that Yonatan, her wonderful partner, and the father of her unborn child, might be the rapist in question. SYNOPSIS It seems that Dori (33) has it all. She just found out that she’s pregnant with her sweet and sensitive partner, Yonatan’s child. They have shared a life together for seven years, and they are about to purchase an apartment, in preparation for their expanding family. She has her own business – a successful vintage shop in Tel Aviv. But she spends most of her time and energy as a veteran volunteer at a help center for victims of sexual assault; this is the place where she feels the most satisfaction and meaning. One evening, while on a shift at the emergency hotline at the help center, Dori receives an anonymous call. The caller has just remembered repressed memories. She says she was drugged and raped at a music festival in the desert over a decade ago. The caller doesn’t remember what her attacker looked like, but she does remember the unique tattoo on his shoulder. She also remembers the smell of his aftershave, and the song that he played while he attacked her - the song that he went out of his way to tell her how much he loved. Dori trembles, she already knows all of this – the description of the rapist sounds horribly similar to her partner Yonatan (40). This is the same Yonatan that she is in love with, the music teacher, the former farm boy, the one who cares about the environment and animals, the man that she tied her life to, the man whose child she carries in her womb. Her Yonatan. What is she supposed to do now? To throw away all of those good years and future plans, just because of one suspicious phone call? Frightened Dori embarks on a journey, right underneath Yonatan’s nose, as she searches for clues in the case. Yonatan currently works as a music teacher at an elementary school, but he used to be a guitarist in a successful rock band from the 2000s called Primary Needs. It was precisely at the height of their success that the band unexpectedly broke up, and Yonatan decided to stay out of the spotlight. Under false pretenses, Dori meets with those who were close to Yonatan at that time, as she tries to gather information that will tip the scales, while simultaneously failing to lead a normal relationship with Yonatan. On his part, Yonatan doesn’t understand Dori’s distance and strange behavior. However, he is convinced by those around him that Dori is simply acting out due to the stress of the pregnancy and purchasing their first apartment, and “she’ll get over it”. And eventually Dori does feel immensely relieved when she discovers that the anonymous caller is Zohar (31), an emotionally unstable woman who is hospitalized in a psychiatric ward, and is known to “harass” the help center’s hotline. Suddenly Zohar’s story sounds dubious and made-up, and Dori decides to let go of her suspicions and move on with her life. But soon after, the case comes back to haunt her. When Zohar is released from the psychiatric ward, she decides to file a complaint about the rape incident, and Dori is asked by the help center to accompany Zohar to the police. Dori shows up with the intention of neutralizing the threat that Zohar poses to her life, and tries to dissuade her from filing the complaint, but she is surprised to find out that Zohar is a wise and determined woman, far from the crazy girl she imagined her to be. Zohar reveals additional details that clearly point towards Yonatan, and Dori can’t continue to deny it any longer. Zohar’s story wounds her heart, and she bravely stands alongside her. Dori and Zohar get closer and closer, developing a special bond, an almost symbiotic relationship that transcends all boundaries. During their joint investigation, they discover that Zohar’s rape is only a drop in the ocean; There was not one single rape that happened at that festival, but rather a broad manipulative, wide range of sexual assaults. They are pursuing a sophisticated, serial rapist, that none of the victims are able to identify. Could it be Yonatan? The quest for truth causes Dori’s life to turn upside down. She suffers from an inflammatory skin disease that makes her miserable and restricts her work, she moves further and further away from Yonatan, she lies to her colleagues at the help center, and she is forced to confront the unresolved abuse story from her childhood. As the investigation continues, it turns out that Yonatan is in fact not the rapist; it was Chaim (55), the lead singer of Primary Needs. Dori realizes that although Yonatan did not play an active role, he was a silent witness, and even cooperated with Chaim’s horrific actions, and kept this dark secret for years. The “gray” area in which Yonatan functioned does not make things easier for Dori. Now she is faced with an even more complex question: Is it possible to forgive someone who witnessed acts of abused but did not commit them himself? Yonatan, ashamed of his past, is determined to do everything he can to atone for his sins and receive his punishment. Meanwhile, the women at the help center, the community to which Dori has belonged to for years, criticize and boycott her over her relationship with a man who assisted in a chain of sexual assaults. Dori grapples with the question – should she stand by the man she loves, who wishes and strives for atonement? Or should she stand with the victims for whom she volunteers and fought for all her life, who are in some way also part of her identity? All the while, a small baby grows inside her, and the idea of giving birth to Yonatan’s son is becoming more and more oppressive. “Not Your Fault” is a moving, ironic, and challenging drama series that examines the broad and elusive spectrum of consent, and offers an original perspective on the harm that is caused by sexual assault even years after it has occurred, not only for the victim – but for the perpetrator and their surroundings as well. What happens when the sexually abused individual, the one that seems far away, somewhere in the news, enters your home? And what if the rapist is not an evil man who traps women in a dark alley, but rather is someone like us, who shares their life with us? And what about the identity of the woman who dedicates her life to the victims, when the victim endangers her relationship and her future? During the eight episodes of this series, Dori is faced with all of these questions, all the while fearing that she herself will turn in a silent witness to the crime before her. • Hold Onto Me

Hold Onto Me Hold Onto Me Myrsini Aristidou Producer Nathalie Dennes Lab Edition 9 , 2021 SCENE PITCH Production Country Cyprus SYNOPSIS It's summer, and 11-year-old Iris is running wild through the streets with her older friend Danae when she learns her estranged father, Aris, is back in town for his own father's funeral. DIRECTOR'S NOTE Director’s Note A police siren shakes us into alert just like an anxiously barking dog. A wave crashes on the decadent shipyard’s shore, just as a horse races to the finish line. Distressed fences, a forced eviction, henchmen and lawyers, petty-theft and quick cash, blood smears, and an estranged father beside the drifting dust, permeate the world of this film; all before the adolescent eyes of defiant Iris. The parallel drawn across the absence of a father, and the lack of boundaries for young Iris thereof, is the primal drive of the story, just as it was for me at that age. Daringly crossing the threshold of physical and emotional boundaries, to merely understand the fragility that holds them together, Iris oscillates through chaos and order as a way of understanding where exactly she stands in this world. Since my early childhood, I couldn’t help but wonder how different my upbringing would be if I had my father around. This feeling of negligence, ambiguously led to my independent seeking self, an explosive temperament ceaselessly challenging the righteousness of authority. A deep-rooted curiosity to traverse things until the end with an innate desire to hold on tight to the reins. My exaggerated self-determination often led to adrenaline highs, full blown chaos, where I thrusted myself to the verge to merely feel something; anything. It was in my adolescent years that I began to know my father, and the acceptance of our bond, even if flawed, has made all the difference. Forever in the breath of my heroine, highlighting her visceral impulsiveness and delicate naiveté, I seek to portray her precarious journey from determination to defeat and finally acceptance; just as this delicate relationship with her father unveils. 3rd Generation 3rd Generation Screenwriters: Yoni Paran Producer/s Yoni Paran , Paran Studio Language: Hebrew Format: Genre Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE The story of Roni and Chaya, two young women who work at Yad Vashem (The World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem), who between tours of the Hall of Remembrance and guiding at the Cattle Car Memorial to the Concentration Camp Deportees, involve themselves in what’s important to any woman her early twenties – sex, love, and self-searching. SYNOPSIS Seventy-five years after the end of World War II, two young women still carry upon their shoulders the traumatic journey of the Holocaust. They are in their twenties, bursting with young spirit and fire in their eyes. One (Roni), is completing her national service, working in the “audio guide cellar” at the Holocaust museum. She is the daughter of the Director of the Guiding Department at Yad Vashem and the granddaughter of a survivor who lost his entire family in the Holocaust. The second (Chaya) is a secretary at the film library at Yad Vashem. She is named after her grandmother’s sister, who was murdered in the Ghetto in the name of God and comes from a devout religious family which sanctifies the Holocaust and believes that everything is a “victory over the Nazis.” Between Janusz Korczak Square and the Hall of Names; between the Warsaw Ghetto Square and the Partisans’ Panorama. 3rd Generation is a deep dive into the world of two young women working at Yad Vashem, in search of love among the “corpses” and the piles of shoes. They are the “invisible” employees of the museum, (they don’t even get to wear name tags) and thus in the cafeteria, they will always sit with the cleaning and maintenance staff (their only friends…) Each afternoon, they meet at their regular bench, across from the statue of the starved skeleton. There, they nosh on snacks from the “pit,” (where they hide food) fantasize about the boys with whom they’re in love, and gawk at the tourists who bring with them a refreshing and hypnotizing scent of “abroad.” We will encounter the heroines at their Torah lectures for religious girls, at a Zumba class for Holocaust survivors, a lead role in a Yiddish musical, and romantic night tours at the Holocaust History Museum. 3rd Generation will present the colorfulness of LA LA Land and the sadness of Schindler’s List. It will provide a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes goings on at the State of Israel’s Holocaust Memorial, as never before seen on screen WRITER'S STATEMENT ABOUT THE WRITERS PRODUCER'S STATEMENT PRODUCER PROFILE PRODUCTION CONTACT DETAILS Back To Participants PARTICIPATION APPLICATION RULES & REGULATIONS PARTICIPANTS OBLIGATIONS PARTICIPATION REGULATION SERIES LAB PARTICIPANTS MENTORS PROFESSIONAL GUESTS JURY PARTICIPATION APPLICATION RULES & REGULATIONS FAQ SERIES LAB FILM LAB MENTORS JURY DECISION MAKERS SCOUTS AND PITCHING PROFESSIONAL GUESTS PARTICIPANTS & PROJECTS LAB FILMS PARTICIPATION APPLICATION PARTICIPANTS OBLIGATIONS RULES & REGULATIONS FILM FAQ FILM LAB HOME TEAM NEWS LABS HOME SERIES LAB WHO'S WHO MENTORS PROFESSIONAL GUESTS JURY ADVISORY BOARD PARTICIPANTS PARTICIPATION APPLICATION RULES & REGULATIONS FAQ
