The Lampshade Add a Title Add a Title Send Send Yoav Gross Producers: , Tomer Shushan The Lampshade Lab Edition 3 2024 PITCH LOGLINE Omer Atias, a private investigator, is sent to Berlin by a dying Holocaust survivor to retrieve a lampshade crafted from his skin, plunging into a perilous Nazi underworld to honor his final wish to be buried whole. SYNOPSIS Omer Atias, 29, a hesitant private investigator, is sent to Berlin by the dying Holocaust survivor Joseph Adler to retrieve a mysterious lampshade. As Omer delves deeper into his investigation, he discovers that the lampshade was crafted by Ilse Koch, the notorious wife of Buchenwald’s commander, and made from Joseph's own skin. Immersed in a dark underworld of secret auctions and neo-Nazi conspiracies, Omer’s journey to fulfill Joseph’s last wish—to be buried whole—turns into a struggle for survival. WRITER'S STATEMENT As a film student, I volunteered with a Holocaust survivor foundation, where I met Joseph, a Buchenwald survivor. His haunting stories of Ilse Koch, the "Witch of Buchenwald," and her grim legacy human-skin artworks stayed with me. Years later, I met Alexa, a German volunteer, and we fell in love. Visiting her family in Bavaria, I sensed the lingering shadows of history—hidden relics and unspoken guilt. One day, I accidentally entered the wrong room and found Nazi memorabilia and photos of her high-ranking SS grandfather. These experiences inspired me to create "The Lampshade," a Berlin-based detective series where history's dark echoes haunt the present. PRODUCER'S STATEMENT At Yoav Gross Productions, we are committed to exploring the depths of history and its lingering effects on the present, particularly the Holocaust, through storytelling that is both unique and profoundly moving. Our founder, the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, carries a personal connection to this dark chapter of human history, inspiring our dedication to addressing it in ways that challenge conventional narratives. Yoav Gross Productions is dedicated to telling these stories with authenticity and creativity, ensuring that the Holocaust is remembered and explored in ways that provoke thought and discussion, honoring the past while engaging with the future. • The Vacation

The Vacation The Vacation Dénes Nagy Producers Sára László, Olivier Dubois, Marcell Gerő, Jean-Laurent Csinidis Lab Edition 12 , 2024 SCENE PITCH Production Campfilm, Hungary; Films De Force Majeure, France; Novak Prod, Belgium Country Hungary, France, Belgium SYNOPSIS A Hungarian farm worker in his 40s goes on an organized trip to Provence with his wife. It's the first time they've been abroad, and they speak no language other than their own. During the trip, they make friends with another Hungarian couple, who seem to be more experienced travelers than they are. While his wife is excited by this new acquaintance, he feels more and more lost. He observes his wife slowly drifting away from him, which triggers an inner voyage of self-discovery. DIRECTOR'S NOTE The basic premise of the film is that it will be working with an amateur cast: to build on the presence of these characters, to record their inner uncertainties. Another important element is the comedy which stems from the protagonists’ ignorance. Our hearts open to these people: they are lost characters who try to stand their ground, but in the meantime, attempt to cover up their clumsiness. What can we do with realities that are alien to us? What do we do with the foreignness of ourselves? • Hillel Rate

Terra Nullius Terra Nullius Screenwriter: Hillel Rate Producer: Einat Zilber-Damari , Great Productions Language: Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish Format: 6 Episodes x 45 Minutes Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE After losing custody of her son, Ivriya infiltrates a religious settlement to expose the men who framed her mother for deadly arson, forcing her to break the cycle of violence-or she loses him forever. SYNOPSIS On a remote mountain in Samaria, where a state-recognized settlement backed by state power, and a radical anarchist outpost, determined to dismantle that very system, are locked in uneasy proximity, Terra Nullius (Latin for “Nobody‘s Land”) unfolds as a slow-burn thriller about land, faith, and buried crimes. After her mother’s sudden death, Ivriya, daughter of a Peruvian convert from the forgotten “Inca Jews” (a unique community of indigenous Christian Peruvians from the Amazon who converted to Judaism and immigrated to Israel, yet remain eternal outsiders within the closed settler society), arrives to reclaim her mother’s land and is pulled into the mountain’s hidden war: religion vs. ideology and tradition vs. truth. Like her, Amir (30), an Arab-Israeli construction manager from Haifa, unwanted by both settlers and Palestinians, finds himself stranded between worlds. Their unlikely friendship reveals a shared terrain between erased identities, both yearning for roots, voice, and history. As Ivriya’s quest to uncover her mother’s injustice slips toward revenge, the series echoes prophet Ezekiel’s warning; “The fathers ate sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge”. Terra Nullius is a story of generational wounds, fragile identities, and the price demanded by sacred land. WRITER'S STATEMENT Terra Nullius unfolds in a raw, biblical landscape, inside a charged religious-political reality. But this is not only a political series. At its core, it is an intimate story about inheritance. About what we receive from our parents, from our land, from our faith, and what it costs to refuse it. I grew up within the religious-national world the series portrays. The language of redemption, sacrifice, and destiny shaped my childhood. I know its beauty. I also know its silence. That tension, between belonging and doubt - is the emotional engine of this series. Like the works of Mare of Easttown, True Detective, The Returned, and Unbelievable, atmosphere and inner landscapes are as central as plot. Here too, an investigation slowly becomes a crime. A buried secret mirrors the heroine’s deeper search for repair, not only of her mother’s past, but of herself. The visual language draws from filmmakers such as Tarkovsky and Malick, who treat landscape not as backdrop but as memory. On this mountain, nature is not passive; it absorbs history. The wind carries accusation. The silence holds guilt. The terrain remembers what the characters try to forget. This series emerges from a place I know from within, not as accusation, not as propaganda, but as confrontation. In Israel today, the struggle over land is inseparable from the struggle over truth, and both are passed from generation to generation like an heirloom no one dares to question. Through Ivriya, I wanted to ask a simple, painful question: If you inherit violence, are you destined to repeat it, or can you end it without burning everything down? ABOUT THE WRITER Hillel Rate is an independent Israeli filmmaker working between fiction and documentary. His work explores how private lives collide with political and moral systems, focusing on characters caught between loyalty, identity, and survival. His fiction project The Good Fence won First Prize at the Sam Spiegel International Film Lab. Rate’s films have screened internationally, including at Jerusalem IFF, DocAviv, Hot Docs, and Astra. Alongside his creative work, he collaborates with festivals worldwide as a jury and selection committee member. PRODUCER'S STATEMENT Sometimes the truth lies buried so deep that reaching it demands courage, patience, and a willingness to confront what others prefer to keep hidden. I place my trust and belief in the creator of this series and in what he has to say, as someone who speaks from a deeply personal point of view—someone who knows the land, the people, and the community from the inside, not as an outsider looking in. That intimate familiarity gives the story an authenticity that cannot be fabricated or imitated. This is not just a personal story, but a courageous act of reckoning. It challenges silence, exposes long-standing power structures, and asks difficult questions about faith, loyalty, and justice. It dares to look directly at inherited trauma and the price paid by those who are born into narratives they did not choose, yet are forced to carry. This is a story that must be heard—because it gives voice to those who were denied one, because it refuses to simplify complex realities, and because it insists on empathy even in the face of violence and loss. Above all, it is a story that offers inspiration: to women who fight to reclaim their agency, to men and women who struggle against cycles of fear and oppression, and to anyone who believes that truth, once revealed, has the power to heal, transform, and create change. PRODUCER PROFILE We produce high-quality, original drama series, maintaining a high level of professionalism. • Don't Be A Stranger

Don't Be A Stranger Don't Be A Stranger Fellipe Fernandes Producers Dora Amorim, Julia Machado Lab Edition 13 , 2025 SCENE PITCH Production Zebra Films Country Brazil SYNOPSIS Frightened by a series of murders in the queer community of a coastal city, the ex-addicted nurse Luca, 29, worries when his ex-boyfriend goes missing and decides to search for him. Gradually, he develops a dangerous attraction to risk: despite all warnings, he continues using dating apps. The possibility that one of his matches might be a killer both terrifies and excites him. In contrast to the tenderness he offers his patients, the brutality of his sexual experiences begins to blur the line between fear and desire. DIRECTOR'S NOTE I feel that facing death's mysteries is unavoidable for people like me, LGBTQ Brazilians from underprivileged backgrounds. Fear and desire dance together in the construction of dissonant sexualities and we must learn to live by blurring the boundaries of the margins. I'm really interested in how Luca gradually pushes his physical and moral boundaries in this journey, until he learns that to really feel alive it's necessary to face the mirror honestly and never become a stranger to oneself. LOG LINE A former-addict male nurse, searches for his ex-boyfriend, fearing he may have become the latest victim in a string of murders haunting the queer community of a coastal city. Confronting the shadow of death, he navigates the line between fear and desire, in a journey of self-discovery and growth. The Good Fence The Good Fence Hillel Rate Producer Lev Orlov Lab Edition: 12 , 2024 SCENE PITCH Production Lev Orlov Films Country Israel SYNOPSIS Avner yearns to include his daughter’s name on the community’s monument, despite her suicide and burial outside of the cemetery’s fence. When his son, a left-wing activist, faces accusations of unlawful activities, Avner releases him on bail and allows him to serve house arrest at home. The Orthodox community reacts strongly to the son’s presence, forcing Avner to choose between his daughter and his son. DIRECTOR'S NOTE "The Good Fence" combines socio-political drama with a personal family story, highlighting society’s, and even a family’s, blindness to the "other." This is my story and my father’s, and, in my opinion, it’s the story of everyone who has chosen a path different from their parents. As a non-practicing Jew raised in a religious home, I experience firsthand the tension between my own worldview and the one I was raised with. I lost my father about a year and a half ago. Our relationship was complicated because I opposed many of his values. His passing was unexpected, and we didn’t have a chance to say goodbye or part amicably. This script is my attempt to give voice to the loss I experienced and that many who leave their religious affiliation still feel. It’s an opportunity to address the tension between traditional and modern views and a call to the hard work of Sh’lom Bayit, making peace with one’s home. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER Hillel Rate, an independent Israeli filmmaker graduated with honors from the Maaleh School of Cinema and Television and completed his master's degree (MFA) cum laude in documentary cinema from Tel Aviv University. In addition, He works with festivals around the world as a jury and selection committee member. His short films have been screened at festivals around the world including among others, the Jerusalem IFF, Doc Aviv IFF, Hot Docs Canadian FF and Astra FF. Hillel's films deal with firsthand stories and focus on marginalized figures in Israeli society. He believes that through personal stories and intimate experiences, it is possible to create narratives that have a broad social impact.
