3rd Generation 3rd Generation Screenwriters: Yoni Paran Producer/s Yoni Paran , Paran Studio Language: Hebrew Format: Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE The story of Roni and Chaya, two young women who work at Yad Vashem (The World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem), who between tours of the Hall of Remembrance and guiding at the Cattle Car Memorial to the Concentration Camp Deportees, involve themselves in what’s important to any woman her early twenties – sex, love, and self-searching. SYNOPSIS Seventy-five years after the end of World War II, two young women still carry upon their shoulders the traumatic journey of the Holocaust. They are in their twenties, bursting with young spirit and fire in their eyes. One (Roni), is completing her national service, working in the “audio guide cellar” at the Holocaust museum. She is the daughter of the Director of the Guiding Department at Yad Vashem and the granddaughter of a survivor who lost his entire family in the Holocaust. The second (Chaya) is a secretary at the film library at Yad Vashem. She is named after her grandmother’s sister, who was murdered in the Ghetto in the name of God and comes from a devout religious family which sanctifies the Holocaust and believes that everything is a “victory over the Nazis.” Between Janusz Korczak Square and the Hall of Names; between the Warsaw Ghetto Square and the Partisans’ Panorama. 3rd Generation is a deep dive into the world of two young women working at Yad Vashem, in search of love among the “corpses” and the piles of shoes. They are the “invisible” employees of the museum, (they don’t even get to wear name tags) and thus in the cafeteria, they will always sit with the cleaning and maintenance staff (their only friends…) Each afternoon, they meet at their regular bench, across from the statue of the starved skeleton. There, they nosh on snacks from the “pit,” (where they hide food) fantasize about the boys with whom they’re in love, and gawk at the tourists who bring with them a refreshing and hypnotizing scent of “abroad.” We will encounter the heroines at their Torah lectures for religious girls, at a Zumba class for Holocaust survivors, a lead role in a Yiddish musical, and romantic night tours at the Holocaust History Museum. 3rd Generation will present the colorfulness of LA LA Land and the sadness of Schindler’s List. It will provide a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes goings on at the State of Israel’s Holocaust Memorial, as never before seen on screen WRITER'S STATEMENT ABOUT THE WRITERS PRODUCER'S STATEMENT PRODUCER PROFILE PRODUCTION CONTACT DETAILS Back To Participants PARTICIPATION APPLICATION RULES & REGULATIONS PARTICIPANTS OBLIGATIONS PARTICIPATION REGULATION SERIES LAB PARTICIPANTS MENTORS PROFESSIONAL GUESTS JURY PARTICIPATION APPLICATION RULES & REGULATIONS FAQ SERIES LAB FILM LAB MENTORS JURY DECISION MAKERS SCOUTS AND PITCHING PROFESSIONAL GUESTS PARTICIPANTS & PROJECTS LAB FILMS PARTICIPATION APPLICATION PARTICIPANTS OBLIGATIONS RULES & REGULATIONS FILM FAQ FILM LAB HOME TEAM NEWS LABS HOME SERIES LAB WHO'S WHO MENTORS PROFESSIONAL GUESTS JURY ADVISORY BOARD PARTICIPANTS PARTICIPATION APPLICATION RULES & REGULATIONS FAQ

Moods Moods Screenwriter: Lee Shira Producer/s Lee Shira , New Generation Productions Language: Hebrew Format: Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE A "Dancing with the Stars" choreographer discovers her mom is homeless, forcing her to blend her glitzy world with messy reality. SYNOPSIS When Daniela, who distanced herself from her mother for the sake of her sanity, discovers she is now homeless, she faces the choice of inviting chaos back into her life. A few years after Daniela (30) deliberately cut ties with her uncontrollable mother Ramona (60), to pursue her dreams as a successful choreographer, her carefully crafted life takes an unexpected turn. On the night of Mickey's marriage proposal, Daniela's doorbell rings, revealing a police officer and the long-lost Ramona. Having lost everything, sold the house and savings, homeless and in dire straits, Ramona has nowhere else to turn. Daniela is forced to bring her into her and Mickey's apartment - to help her rebuild her life. She finds her a job, opens her a bank account, tries to understand what happened to her in the months she was on the street and how she got there. Daniela allows her chaotic mother into her life, disrupting the stability she worked so hard to achieve. As Daniela juggles wedding plans, demanding celebrities from ""Dancing with the stars"" production, and caring for her helpless mother, her once-stable life crumbles. The bond with Mickey weakens, and her dream job teeters on the brink. Surprisingly, her mother's return sparks Daniela's dormant passions and emotions. Daniela finds herself doing things she never dreamt of: Stealing from stores and chasing wild boars in the middle of the night half-naked because her mother can't sleep. She breaks into her childhood home, chases after robbers or innocent people whom her mother suspects have touched her things. She breaks into a random wedding she wasn't invited to and is almost swept away in a stormy affair that will destroy her relationship , supported by her own mother. Through a shared journey, they rediscover each other. Two girls. One of them is a mother and the other a daughter. But it is not clear who is who and when. WRITER'S STATEMENT Ten years ago, I discovered that my mother was living on the streets. For three months, she navigated the challenges of homelessness, showering in beach facilities and sleeping on rooftops, all while keeping this reality hidden from me due to shame and lack of courage. Growing up in an affluent neighborhood with friends from the top decile, the harsh economic truth was unfamiliar and embarrassing. During that year, I learned that my mother had a diagnosed borderline personality structure, revealing that her struggles were not merely perceived subjectively. This revelation led me to view her with greater sympathy. What initially seemed an overwhelming challenge became a pivotal moment that positively shaped my character. Navigating the financial struggles to support my mother fostered independence. Taking charge of her life compelled me to take control of my own. Through this process, my self-esteem strengthened, and I embraced responsibility. Similar to an inexperienced parent faced with caring for a newborn, I found myself with a 65-year-old ""baby"" who wore a coat in August and resisted wearing underwear. My mother is a complex character—unexpected, original, truthful, deceptive, humorous, and at times, challenging. Despite her quirks, she possesses the most generous heart and the keenest mind. I am writing this series with immense love, aiming to touch the hearts of those who watch it. I hope it elicits laughter, evokes emotions, and encourages viewers to approach others with greater understanding. My goal is to challenge preconceived notions of normalcy and insanity, parenting and love. ABOUT THE WRITER PRODUCER'S STATEMENT An 8-episode romantic comedy providing a different, witty, funny, and touching perspective on a between mother-daughter relationship which has been severed due to the mother's mental illness. Mental illness is a common phenomenon that turns families upside down, and we believe that anyone whose family has been challenged, will relate to this human story led by two strong women – a universal story that will draw an international crowd of viewers. This is my 3rd collaboration with the creator Shira Porat, after Embezzlement (for "yes") which sold worldwide, and Motobank which is in development in Reshet and "yes". I think Shira is one of the most talented creators in our industry. She has a fresh and innovative voice, she is dedicated and versatile and I believe this series will be a big success. The Widow's Detective The Widow's Detective Screenwriter: Eitan Mansuri Producer/s Eitan Mansuri , Spiro Films Language: English, Yiddish, Germany Format: 8 Episodes x 45 Minutes Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE An ultra-Orthodox PI from Brooklyn is hired by a young widow to find her missing brother-in-law to perform a "Halitza," a religious ceremony that frees her from the obligation to marry her late husband's brother, thus freeing her to remarry SYNOPSIS Simcha (40), An ultra-Orthodox PI from Brooklyn, is hired by a young widow to find her missing brother-in-law for a "Halitza” ceremony. The case takes a dark turn when he discovers his client is an impostor and that her operator was murdered. Now the prime suspect, Simcha embarks on a fateful journey to find the mysterious brother and clear his name. This leads him all the way to Hamburg's secular nightlife, where he finds himself embroiled in a deep corrupted inheritance battle within a large Hasidic court and uncovers a secret bigger than expected. WRITER'S STATEMENT The Widow’s Detective is a Jewish and cynical version of American film noir movies from the 1930s and 1940s and neo-noir films from the 1970s to the present day. The encounter of this genre with the mysterious, closed, crowded, and non-individualistic ultra-Orthodox enclave of Williamsburg creates a connection that produces an ironic gap filled with dark and mysterious tones. This world becomes both a haven and a prison for characters who navigate secrets and have clashing expectations. With high-contrast lighting in narrow alleys and dimly-lit yeshivas, the series explores faith and identity amid mystery. It's Shtisel meets Chinatown, probing the tension between modernity and tradition. ABOUT THE WRITER Boaz Frankel, a director, editor, and screenwriter, was raised in a religious Jewish family but now identifies as secular and resides in Tel Aviv. He won the Israeli Television Award for directing the series REHEARSELS, which was later sold to Hulu. His diploma film 212 won the Best Student Film Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival. His short film KILOMETER 147 won the Israeli Academy Award for Best Short Film. Frankel studied filmmaking at Sam Spiegel Film School and video art at Bezalel Academy of Arts. PRODUCER'S STATEMENT When we encountered Boaz Frankel's previous works, it was clear to us that he had a unique vision and a deep understanding of the complexities within the worlds he portrays and we were very eager to work with him on this project. "The Widow's Detective" stands out by merging the intricacies of a Hasidic Jewish community with the timeless appeal of a film noir detective story. This fusion offers a fresh and distinctive perspective. Boaz’s film noir-inspired lens adds depth and intensity, promising a visually striking and emotionally compelling experience that we believe will captivate audiences worldwide. We are incredibly excited to bring this project to light and share it with the audience.
