WRITER'S STATEMENT As a film student, I volunteered with a Holocaust survivor foundation, where I met Joseph, a Buchenwald survivor. His haunting stories of Ilse Koch, the "Witch of Buchenwald," and her grim legacy human-skin artworks stayed with me. Years later, I met Alexa, a German volunteer, and we fell in love. Visiting her family in Bavaria, I sensed the lingering shadows of history—hidden relics and unspoken guilt. One day, I accidentally entered the wrong room and found Nazi memorabilia and photos of her high-ranking SS grandfather. These experiences inspired me to create "The Lampshade," a Berlin-based detective series where history's dark echoes haunt the present.
