The Lampshade Add a Title Add a Title Send Send Yoav Gross Producers: , Tomer Shushan The Lampshade Lab Edition 3 2024 PITCH LOGLINE Omer Atias, a private investigator, is sent to Berlin by a dying Holocaust survivor to retrieve a lampshade crafted from his skin, plunging into a perilous Nazi underworld to honor his final wish to be buried whole. SYNOPSIS Omer Atias, 29, a hesitant private investigator, is sent to Berlin by the dying Holocaust survivor Joseph Adler to retrieve a mysterious lampshade. As Omer delves deeper into his investigation, he discovers that the lampshade was crafted by Ilse Koch, the notorious wife of Buchenwald’s commander, and made from Joseph's own skin. Immersed in a dark underworld of secret auctions and neo-Nazi conspiracies, Omer’s journey to fulfill Joseph’s last wish—to be buried whole—turns into a struggle for survival. WRITER'S STATEMENT As a film student, I volunteered with a Holocaust survivor foundation, where I met Joseph, a Buchenwald survivor. His haunting stories of Ilse Koch, the "Witch of Buchenwald," and her grim legacy human-skin artworks stayed with me. Years later, I met Alexa, a German volunteer, and we fell in love. Visiting her family in Bavaria, I sensed the lingering shadows of history—hidden relics and unspoken guilt. One day, I accidentally entered the wrong room and found Nazi memorabilia and photos of her high-ranking SS grandfather. These experiences inspired me to create "The Lampshade," a Berlin-based detective series where history's dark echoes haunt the present. PRODUCER'S STATEMENT At Yoav Gross Productions, we are committed to exploring the depths of history and its lingering effects on the present, particularly the Holocaust, through storytelling that is both unique and profoundly moving. Our founder, the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, carries a personal connection to this dark chapter of human history, inspiring our dedication to addressing it in ways that challenge conventional narratives. Yoav Gross Productions is dedicated to telling these stories with authenticity and creativity, ensuring that the Holocaust is remembered and explored in ways that provoke thought and discussion, honoring the past while engaging with the future. - The Vacation
The Vacation The Vacation Dénes Nagy Producers Sára László, Olivier Dubois, Marcell Gerő, Jean-Laurent Csinidis Lab Edition 12 , 2024 SCENE PITCH Production Campfilm, Hungary; Films De Force Majeure, France; Novak Prod, Belgium Country Hungary, France, Belgium SYNOPSIS A Hungarian farm worker in his 40s goes on an organized trip to Provence with his wife. It's the first time they've been abroad, and they speak no language other than their own. During the trip, they make friends with another Hungarian couple, who seem to be more experienced travelers than they are. While his wife is excited by this new acquaintance, he feels more and more lost. He observes his wife slowly drifting away from him, which triggers an inner voyage of self-discovery. DIRECTOR'S NOTE The basic premise of the film is that it will be working with an amateur cast: to build on the presence of these characters, to record their inner uncertainties. Another important element is the comedy which stems from the protagonists’ ignorance. Our hearts open to these people: they are lost characters who try to stand their ground, but in the meantime, attempt to cover up their clumsiness. What can we do with realities that are alien to us? What do we do with the foreignness of ourselves? LOG LINE A Hungarian cattle farm worker in his mid-40s goes on an organized tourist holiday, with his wife, for the first time in his life, to Provence. It sets him off on an inner journey of discovery and understanding of his own freedom.
