SYNOPSIS

A young Hasidic couple escapes the strict Gur community and sets out on a desert trek - beyond the reach of the supervision, the rules, and the communal control over their bedroom.
Along the way, between walking by day and sleeping in a tent by night, their touchless marriage starts to unravel, revealing layers of shame, repression, and sexual trauma.
In the raw space between past and present, between body and faith, a fragile intimacy is born - and with it, a chance for redemption.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

I was married, through an arranged marriage within the Gur Hasidic community, at the age of twenty, full of hope. In the years that followed, my body and spirit were worn down by a traumatic initiation into marriage and sexuality, shaped by coercion, prohibitions, and scarring guidance.
״Leaving Gur״ grows from these wounds. Through a young couple's journey into the desert, I explore bodies shaped by control and the possibility of intimacy after trauma. I write this film as a fantasy of love and freedom, born within the world I belong to.

LOG LINE
