Good Girls Go To Hell Good Girls Go To Hell Screenwriters: Shlomit Arviv Producer/s Shlomit Arviv , Dori Media Group Language: Hebrew Format: 10 Episodes x 30 Minutes Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE Tohar (17), the youngest daughter of the chief rabbi in a small West Bank settlement, decides to end her most significant relationship, and break up with God. SYNOPSIS In a West Bank settlement, Tohar (17), the chief rabbi's daughter, decides to break up with God after her mother's Parkinson's diagnosis. She embarks on a 10-step liberation journey, breaking the fourth wall to address the Almighty directly. Navigating her Orthodox community, all-girls school, family expectations, and first love, Tohar challenges everything she's known. In a place where every decision is judged by both Heaven and Earth, can Tohar find her true self without losing it all? WRITER'S STATEMENT "Good Girls Go to Hell" is inspired by Tohar's upbringing in a settlement. This adaptation of her graphic novel follows 17-year-old Tohar as she navigates the clash between tradition and independence. With raw honesty and sharp humor, we witness her struggle against family expectations and community norms while grappling with her evolving beliefs. It's a love letter to every misfit and doubter who's felt trapped by circumstances. Imagine "Fleabag" in a settlement or "Derry Girls" with a kippa - a story as contradictory, messy, and beautifully human as life itself. ABOUT THE WRITERS Bar Cohen A screenwriter, Cohen’s debut feature, CLOUDS OF DUST, is an Israel-France co-production currently in production. An honors graduate of The Sam Spiegel Film School, her projects have been featured in the Jerusalem Film & Television Fund Series Lab and NFCT Docu Lab and more. Tohar Sherman-Friedman An author, illustrator, tattoo artist, and comic book creator. Friedman's first graphic novel, ""Good Girls Go to Hell"", was published and translated into various languages. The sequel, ""Angel of Sabotage"", was released last March in France. She is a graduate of the visual communication studies and the illustration department at Shenkar College. PRODUCER'S STATEMENT From the moment I encountered "Good Girls Go to Hell" by emerging talents Bar and Tohar, I was captivated. The playful title belies a profound coming-of-age story set in a world seemingly distant from my own—a large religious family on the fringes of Israeli society. Yet, Tohar's original dialogue with her "imaginary friend" God resonated deeply. This series promises to be a groundbreaking exploration of faith, family, and identity, told with wit and warmth. Bar and Tohar's authentic voices shine through, creating a story that's both uniquely local and globally relatable. Their fresh perspective offers a bold take on universal themes. The Parasite The Parasite Screenwriter: Marek Rozenbaum Producer/s Marek Rozenbaum , Transfax Productions Language: Hebrew Format: Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE Scarred by a traumatic breakup, a dedicated social worker at a women's shelter encounters a charismatic man who promises the life of her dreams. Despite her professional expertise, she’s oblivious to the red flags and succumbs to his charms. When she tries to break free, she discovers it's too late. SYNOPSIS Daphne is a dedicated social worker at a women’s shelter working with teenage girls who moved there with their mothers. After a painful breakup, Daphne's sister persuades her to join a empowerment workshop. That’s where she meets Elad. From the moment the two started sharing their secrets, they’re completely inseparable. She’s flattered by his acts of jealousy, he dreams of the day they start a family. Elad moves in with Daphne, and soon enough he proposes. Moral is a bright teenager from the shelter and in love with Johnny, a juvenile delinquent. Their relationship worries Daphne. She fears that Moral, a skilled athlete, will get carried away and stop training regularly. When Elad loses his job, he grows more and more demanding of Daphne’s attention. His neediness charms her; she’s never met such a sensitive man. During a tasting for their upcoming wedding, Daphne is urgently called to the shelter. Moral’s father has found the shelter’s address and is there now, trying to convince Moral’s mother to get back with him. Elad feels betrayed and upset that Daphne left at such a crucial moment. He keeps looking for faults in the way Daphne conducts herself, indicating her loyalty to Moral as the reason their relationship went awry. They fight endlessly, to the point of mutual acts of violence. Daphne informs Elad that she wants to postpone their wedding and take some time off. Reminding her that she is the biggest advocate of people’s ability to change, Elad uses all kinds of manipulations and begs her not to give up on him, on them. Daphne forgives him and their relationship is seemingly back on track. But after she falls asleep he secretly installs a spyware app on her phone. Despite Daphne's professional expertise, she’s oblivious to the red flags and succumbs to his charms. The series will follow the chain of events leading her to fall into Elad’s web, including the moment she realizes she has been trapped and her feeble attempts to escape – until it’s too late. WRITER'S STATEMENT "The Parasite" is inspired by Michal Sela's case. She was a social worker who was leading a double life. Her murder shocked everyone around her. She had never told a soul about the abuse she was suffering in the hands of her husband, Eliran. As bad as it was, he had never raised a hand on her, and therefore she wasn’t aware of just how dangerous he is and didn’t recognize the signs that started from the beginning of their relationship. Having volunteered in the Michal Sela Forum, I had the privilege of getting to know her family from up close. In this process, I learned that emotional, financial and physical abuse usually have the same patterns and signs. Women from all across the country, of all races, religions and classes are paying a much too heavy price, and the spotlight needs to be shifted. In her manifest (titled “The Parasite”), Lili Ben-Ami explains this principle well by comparing the murdering husband to a parasite: “The parasite lacks means to sustain its own life, and feeds on the other, the stronger, which acts as a host. The parasite clings onto the powerful, compassionate host and turns her into its food, sucking his life force from her.” Lili, who is Michal’s sister and head of The Michal Sela Forum, will act as the series consultant. So, what brings a successful young woman, whose life’s work revolves around helping women, fall into a destructive relationship with an abusive man? And on the other hand, what tragic chain of events turns a man into a full-on narcissist and even a murderer? What happens behind closed doors, just before the murder takes place? Are all women in danger of being murdered and all men in danger of becoming murderers? "The Parasite" will allow viewers a glimpse of this subject from an angle less explored; through daily life, the destructive dynamic that repeats itself over and over again. There will be moments when this outcry will be hard to bear, but my hope is that it will shed light on the matter and do some justice to all those strong women who only wanted to be loved. ABOUT THE WRITER PRODUCER'S STATEMENT The project started as a character based true story-case study. As we progressed we understood that we are dealing with a behavioural pattern which appears in almost every violent relationship when a man tries to possess his woman partner. A repetitive step deal, where at the end, the woman either breaks out of the relationship or dies. I believe the story is universal, and happens in every country and society. The pattern stays the same. As such, I strongly believe in the relevance of this series worldwide, and I am looking forward to finding collaborators. The Plasticians The Plasticians Screenwriter: Eitan Mansuri Producer/s Eitan Mansuri , Spiro Films Language: Hebrew Format: Send PITCHDECK LOGLINE An illegal plastic surgery clinic, binds the fate of a mother and daughter, who are dragged into running the business from their crumbling living room. As they rise as successful business-women, their harsh reality creeps back in, facing them with the realisation that their empowerment is a mere façade. SYNOPSIS An ambitious secretary, an immigrant from the USSR, wants to become a successful life coach. Unfortunately, she can't get out from under the burden of the symbiotic relationship with her mother, a surgeon from Moscow who has become a taxi driver since immigrating to Israel. In order to finally leave the house and jumpstart her career, she has to find a way for her mom to function without her. She decides to set up a makeshift surgical clinic at home, so her mother can regain the dignity and sense of purpose she lost. While she waits for the medical license to be approved, the underground clinic begins to grow. The daughter is tempted to give up on her own dreams and live forever alongside this happier and stronger version of her mother, the mother she always wanted. The two form a surprising camaraderie through their complicity in crime, and drag each other deeper into the underworld. WRITER'S STATEMENT I was born in St. Petersburg and grew up in an immigrant home in Israel, alongside two educated parents who managed to always take care of the family's financial security, but never found professional fulfilment. I am a daily witness to the dissonance between the successful professionals my parents once were, and the life of survival and compromise brought forth by immigration. The trauma of immigration naturally passed onto the next generation. The parent-child relationship was turned on its head, and the children often functioned as the responsible adults in the family. As someone who grew up this way, I have always had an impossible dream: to restore my parent’s dignity and see them strong and full of confidence. However, my parents and their friends chose to embrace life and live it to the fullest. They write plays for birthdays, record songs for each other, dance, drink and soothe their pain with a passion for life and love, trying above all else to forget the instability and uncertainty of life. The massive addiction to plastic surgery is in fact an attempt at controlling the uncontrollable, a human desire to look good, or simply be seen. In the unique clinic which our series creates, both the immigrant staff and their clients, are driven by the same human nature to survive. Plastic surgery has become even more popular and accessible in recent years. Still, it is a medical procedure, surgery, positioning the patients seeking treatment as 'ill,' not good-looking or young enough; consequently, the notion of 'healing' through a plastic surgery is very limited. In many cases, dealing with eternal appearance is caused by psychological problems that are neglected and even exacerbated. In this series, I hope to present the other side of the beauty industry's enticing brochures, and focusing on the mental motivations for seeking an external solution. ABOUT THE WRITER PRODUCER'S STATEMENT In 1990, the dissolution of the Soviet Union sparked a significant wave of Russian immigration worldwide. Among these migrations, the influx of Jewish Russians to Israel stands as the nation's largest ever witnessed, with one million individuals making the journey. While many managed to integrate successfully, others faced challenges. "The Plasticians" delves into the narratives of those who struggled to integrate fully into society but nonetheless, never gave up on their joy of life, their culture and definitely not on their dreams. This series raises relevant, global questions about immigration, belonging, and the coexistence of cultures within a nation. It offers a fresh perspective on Russian immigrants who abandoned their previous lives, professions, and sometimes families in pursuit of a new home. Hila Royzenman introduced the project at the Series Mania writer's campus 2022, showcasing her promise as a young director with a distinct voice and deep understanding of these characters' worlds. The series is multilingual, featuring dialogue in Hebrew, Russian, and English, indicating its potential to transcend borders.
